The 2nd Dragon International Music Festival takes place 15.08-18.08 in Tallinn, Republic of Estonia. The festival includes the International Youth Piano Competition, guest concert, master classes, an awards ceremony gala concert, and public joint concerts for the Grand Prix winners.

Timetable:
- 15th of August: introduction of period keyboard instruments
The introduction starts 11:00 am at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. Gathering in the foyer at 10:55.
- 16th of August: guest concert

The exact competition schedule will be announced 5 days before the competition.
The organisers reserve the right to make small changes within the competition schedule timing.
Master classes:
2nd Dragon International Music Festival offers 9 master classes for the International Youth Piano Competition competitors. They are free of charge and open to listeners. The first 9 pianists (7-18 years old) who register for the competition are able to apply for one free master class (45 min). The organisers will contact first 9 participants regarding masterclasses.

Category I: Repertoire of free choice:
7-10 years (time limit 3 min)
11-14 years (time limit 5 min)
15-18 years (time limit 8 min)
19-30 years (time limit 10 min)
Category II: Asian music (preselected Chinese/Japanese pieces):
7-10 years
11-14 years
15-18 years
19-30 years
Every age group may choose between two pieces, which may be performed from the score. Participants may choose to play either one or both pieces. The scores are available at

Competition rules:
1. Registration is necessary for taking part of the festival. The registration is free of charge, at:

The application deadline for the International Youth Piano Competition is the 10th of August 2017.
2. The whole repertoire of free choice must be played by memory. Asian music (preselected Chinese/Japanese pieces) may be performed from the score.
3. Regarding the repertoire of free choice: participants are allowed to play single movements of pieces.
4. One player may take part of two different groups at the same time: repertoire of free choice and Asian music.
5. In the group of Asian music, repertoire must be chosen according to the list provided at

6. Participants agree to have photos and recordings from the festival events published.
7. All festival events which take place 16.-18.08.2017 are free for International Youth Piano Competition participants and their teachers.
8. The jury has the right to reserve the first prize empty if the competitors do not meet the requirements.
9. Should any dispute arise regarding the interpretation of any part of the rules and regulations of the International Youth Piano Competition, the decision of the competition administration and jury will be final and not subject to any appeal. The competition administration reserves the right to amend any of the rules or regulations contained herein if it is considered necessary for the Competition.
10. The first 9 pianists (7-18 years old) who register for the competition are able to apply for one free master class. The organisers will contact first participants regarding masterclasses.
11. The Grand Prix winners must confirm their joint performance at the Saku Manor concert on the 1st of September 2017 and at the Kadriorg Palace concert on the 29th of September 2017.
12. Only participants who perform Chinese pieces are able to apply for the Asian music Grand Prix.

Grand prix for 3 participants (only when performing a Chinese piece) - joint performance of Chinese music at the Kadriorg Palace on the 29th of September 2017.

3rd prize –10€ gift card
